CAD Modeler Terms of Service
Last updated: May 19, 2026
CAD Modeler Privacy Policy · PrintPal Terms of Service · PrintPal Privacy Policy
IMPORTANT — READ CAREFULLY. These CAD Modeler Terms of Service (the "CAD Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Atlas Rodin LLC ("PrintPal," "we," "us," or "our"), a Delaware limited liability company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. They govern your use of the PrintPal AI CAD Modeler, the public share pages, and related features (collectively, the "CAD Modeler"). By using the CAD Modeler you agree to be bound by these CAD Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the CAD Modeler.
1. Scope & Relationship to Site ToS
These CAD Terms apply specifically to your use of the CAD Modeler. The general PrintPal Terms of Service ("Site ToS") and the general PrintPal Privacy Policy continue to apply to your use of the PrintPal platform as a whole.
These CAD Terms are in addition to the Site ToS and supplement them. Where a provision of these CAD Terms conflicts with a provision of the Site ToS regarding the CAD Modeler, these CAD Terms control. Where these CAD Terms are silent, the Site ToS controls. Capitalized terms used but not defined here have the meanings given in the Site ToS.
Data practices specific to the CAD Modeler — including third-party LLM routing, public sharing, image uploads, and AI training — are described in the CAD Modeler Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility & Geographic Restrictions
2.1 Age.
The CAD Modeler is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 13 years old to use the CAD Modeler. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the CAD Modeler only with your parent's or guardian's permission and only under their supervision.
2.2 Sanctioned countries and restricted parties.
You represent and warrant that you are not (and are not acting on behalf of any person who is): (a) located in, organized under the laws of, or ordinarily resident in any country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. embargoes (currently including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk People's Republic, and Luhansk People's Republic regions of Ukraine); or (b) on the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control ("OFAC") Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List, the U.S. Department of Commerce's Denied Persons List or Entity List, or any equivalent list maintained by a competent authority of a jurisdiction whose laws apply to you. If you are such a person, you are not permitted to use the CAD Modeler.
We do not currently restrict CAD Modeler access at the infrastructure level by country. Your compliance with this Section 2.2 is your responsibility.
2.3 Export controls and dual-use items.
The CAD Modeler and the CAD designs you create with it may be subject to U.S. and other export control and sanctions laws and regulations, including the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. Parts 730–774) and the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (22 C.F.R. Parts 120–130). You may not use the CAD Modeler to design, develop, or generate technical data for any item subject to the ITAR, any item on the Commerce Control List requiring a license to your destination, or any item intended for prohibited end-uses (including nuclear, chemical, biological, missile, military, or weapons-related end-uses). See also the prohibited use list in Section 11.
2.4 Beta status.
The CAD Modeler may be offered as a "Beta," "Early Access," "Preview," "Alpha," or similar pre-release product. You acknowledge and agree that Beta features are governed by the "Beta Features and Experimental Services" section of the Site ToS — meaning they are provided "AS-IS," may be modified or discontinued without notice, may produce errors, and may result in data loss.
3. Account & Beta Access
The CAD Modeler requires a PrintPal account in good standing. We may, at our sole discretion, limit access to specific users, gate features behind allow-lists, throttle generation rates, and require additional verification.
4. License to Use the CAD Modeler
Subject to your compliance with these CAD Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use the CAD Modeler for your own personal or internal business purposes. No other rights are granted by implication, estoppel, or otherwise. The CAD Modeler itself, our trademarks, our model weights (where applicable), our software, our prompts, our system messages, and our tool implementations are and remain our exclusive property.
5. Your Content & License Grant
"Your Content" means everything you submit to or generate via the CAD Modeler that you contribute: chat prompts you write, images you upload, OpenSCAD source code you write or edit, project metadata you set, and any other materials you provide.
You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, non-exclusive license to host, store, transmit, copy, reproduce, display, perform, modify, create derivative works of, and otherwise use Your Content for the following purposes:
- Operating, providing, maintaining, and improving the CAD Modeler and the PrintPal platform.
- Transmitting Your Content to third-party LLM providers for AI processing.
- Publishing Your Content publicly to the extent you have enabled public sharing (see Section 10).
- Training, evaluating, fine-tuning, or developing our own and our partners' AI/ML systems — see the AI Training section of the CAD Modeler Privacy Policy.
- Enforcing these CAD Terms and our other policies, and complying with legal obligations.
This license survives termination of your account to the extent necessary for us to retain, archive, and continue to use Your Content in de-identified, aggregated, or model-improvement form, and to maintain backups and legal records.
6. Image Upload Rights Warranty
By uploading any image, photo, sketch, or other visual reference to the CAD Modeler, you represent and warrant to us that:
- You own all rights, title, and interest in the image, or you have all necessary licenses, consents, releases, and permissions to upload it and to grant us the license in Section 5 with respect to it.
- Your upload of the image does not infringe any copyright, trademark, trade-secret, publicity, privacy, contractual, or other right of any third party.
- The image does not contain Protected Health Information regulated by HIPAA, classified information, biometric identifiers, or sensitive personal data that you are not authorized to disclose.
- The image does not depict a person whose photograph you do not have rights or consent to use.
You agree to indemnify us against any claim that an image you uploaded violates a third party's rights, as further described in Section 17.
7. AI Output & Ownership
7.1 Outputs.
"Output" means the OpenSCAD source code, generated 3D meshes (STL/3MF/STEP/etc.), rendered preview images, design briefs, checklists, and other content produced by the CAD Modeler in response to your inputs. Subject to your compliance with these CAD Terms, your full payment of all applicable credit charges, and applicable third-party LLM provider terms, we assign to you all of our right, title, and interest (if any) in any Output generated specifically in response to your inputs.
7.2 No exclusivity.
Due to the nature of machine learning, similar or identical Output may be generated for other users (now or in the future) from similar inputs. You acknowledge that we cannot and do not guarantee that Output is unique or that we have not generated, will not generate, or have not authorized the generation of similar or identical Output for other users. We make no representation that any Output is copyrightable, patentable, novel, original, non-infringing, fit for any particular purpose, or eligible for any legal protection.
7.3 Your responsibility for Output.
You are solely responsible for your use of any Output, including verifying its accuracy, structural soundness, printability, manufacturability, regulatory compliance, and freedom from infringement. You must independently verify Output before relying on it. See Section 14 (Engineering & Safety Disclaimer).
7.4 No copyright claim by us.
We do not assert copyright in Output that you generate from your own inputs through the CAD Modeler. We do, however, retain all rights in the CAD Modeler itself, including our underlying software, prompts, system messages, model weights, tool implementations, and the techniques and methods used to generate Output.
8. Third-Party LLM Providers
The CAD Modeler depends on third-party large language model providers and intermediary routing services. By using the CAD Modeler you acknowledge and agree that your prompts, uploaded images, conversation history, and other inputs may be transmitted to and processed by such third-party providers, each of which operates under its own terms of service and privacy policy and may be located in jurisdictions different from yours. See the CAD Modeler Privacy Policy for details.
We do not warrant the availability, accuracy, quality, security, or behavior of any third-party LLM provider. Provider availability and selection may change without notice.
9. OpenSCAD Library Licensing
The CAD Modeler may include, reference, import, or generate code that uses third-party OpenSCAD libraries, including but not limited to BOSL, BOSL2, and MCAD. These libraries are distributed under their own open-source licenses (which may include permissive licenses or copyleft licenses such as the GNU Lesser General Public License or the GNU General Public License). If you copy, modify, distribute, or otherwise use Output that incorporates such libraries, you are responsible for complying with the applicable open-source license terms, which may include obligations to provide source code or attribution to downstream recipients.
The OpenSCAD interpreter itself, including the WebAssembly build distributed with the CAD Modeler, is licensed by its respective authors under its own terms. A copy of the OpenSCAD-WASM source offer is included with our distribution.
We make no representation that Output is free of third-party copyrighted code or that your use of Output complies with any applicable open-source license. You should review the libraries referenced by your Output and consult an attorney if you have any doubt about your compliance obligations.
11. Prohibited Use
In addition to the prohibitions in the Site ToS, you may not use the CAD Modeler to:
- Design, develop, generate technical data for, or produce: weapons or weapon components (firearms, ammunition, explosives, knives, blades, suppressors, magazines, bump-stocks, auto-sears, or any analogous regulated component); items subject to the U.S. ITAR; items on the U.S. Commerce Control List requiring a license to your destination; items intended for nuclear, chemical, biological, missile, military, or weapons-related end-uses; or items intended for end-uses prohibited by applicable export-control or sanctions law.
- Design medical devices, pharmaceutical components, prosthetics, implants, food-contact items, child-safety items, life-safety equipment, structural building components, aerospace components, automotive safety components, marine safety components, pressure vessels, or any item for which the failure mode could cause serious bodily injury, death, or significant property damage — unless you are a qualified professional or licensed engineer independently reviewing, verifying, and certifying the Output for the intended use, in which case you assume full responsibility.
- Design counterfeit goods, items intended to circumvent intellectual-property protections, or items that infringe a third party's copyright, trademark, design patent, utility patent, or trade dress.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract or recreate our prompts, system messages, model weights, tool implementations, or training data.
- Use Output to train, benchmark, evaluate, or improve any competing AI/ML system; use the CAD Modeler API or web interface for automated bulk scraping or systematic data extraction; or otherwise use Output for purposes that compete with our business.
- Submit Inputs containing malware, malicious code, prompt-injection payloads aimed at extracting other users' content, or attempts to break or bypass our content filters, rate limits, or safety controls.
- Submit Inputs depicting child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, terrorist content, or any other unlawful content.
- Use the CAD Modeler in violation of any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, forfeiture of unused credits, removal of content, and referral to law enforcement where appropriate.
12. Credit Billing
12.1 Credits.
The CAD Modeler is metered by "API Credits" (also referred to as "Credits"), the same credits used elsewhere on the PrintPal platform. Credits are purchased in packs through the PrintPal billing page and are consumed when you generate AI Output (chat turns, repair iterations, image-to-CAD analysis, validation runs, and similar operations).
12.2 Pricing.
Credit pricing and per-operation Credit consumption rates are published in-product and on our pricing page and may change from time to time. By using the CAD Modeler you agree to be charged at our then-current published rates. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of material price increases (typically 30 days), but reserve the right to adjust pricing at any time.
12.3 Charging on success and failure.
Credits are generally charged in proportion to the upstream cost we incur from our LLM providers for processing your request. Because we incur upstream costs even when a generation fails late (for example, the model returned a response that we could not parse, or the generated code failed to render), Credits may be consumed for unsuccessful generations. Where a generation fails so early that we have not incurred upstream cost, we will not charge Credits or will reverse any Credit charge already made. Credits are not consumed for actions that do not invoke an LLM (editing code yourself, rendering an existing model, exporting a file).
12.4 No subscription required.
You can use the CAD Modeler on a pay-as-you-go basis by purchasing Credits manually. No subscription is required.
12.5 Tax.
Credit prices are exclusive of any applicable sales, use, value-added, withholding, or similar taxes, which are your responsibility unless we are required by law to collect them.
12.6 Disputes.
If you believe your account has been charged incorrectly, you must notify us at [email protected] within 60 days of the charge. We will investigate and, where the charge is determined to be incorrect, credit your account. Failure to notify us within 60 days waives your right to dispute the charge.
13. Auto-Refill (Recurring Charges)
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT EXPLAINS THE TERMS OF AN OPT-IN RECURRING CHARGE PROGRAM.
13.1 Opt-in only.
The CAD Modeler offers an optional "Auto-Refill" (also called "auto top-up") feature that, when you explicitly enable it, automatically purchases an additional pack of Credits using your stored payment method whenever your Credit balance falls below a threshold you set. Auto-Refill is OFF by default. We will not enable it without your separate, affirmative consent.
13.2 What you authorize when you enable Auto-Refill.
By turning Auto-Refill ON in your account settings, you authorize PrintPal (acting through our payment processor) to:
- Charge your stored payment method on file in the dollar amount of the refill pack you select, in U.S. dollars (or your local currency, if supported), each time your Credit balance falls below the threshold amount you set.
- Continue charging your stored payment method on a recurring basis whenever your Credit balance falls below the threshold, without further confirmation from you, until you cancel Auto-Refill.
- Update your stored payment method using card-account-updater services if your card number or expiration date changes.
Your initial enrollment screen will display the refill pack price, the threshold amount, an example of the recurring nature of the charge, and a confirmation that you are enrolling in recurring charges. By clicking the affirmative-consent button on that screen (separate from any other terms acceptance), you confirm that you have read and agreed to this Section 13.
13.3 Cancellation.
You may cancel Auto-Refill at any time, for any reason, by disabling it in your account settings. Cancellation is effective immediately and is free of any cancellation fee. Cancellation stops future automatic charges but does not refund prior Credit purchases (which remain available for use, subject to Section 14).
13.4 Acknowledgment notice.
After you enable Auto-Refill we will send you an email confirming the enrollment terms (refill pack price, threshold, your right to cancel, and how to cancel). We will also display a persistent indicator in your account settings that Auto-Refill is on.
13.5 California, Oregon, and other state-specific automatic-renewal rights.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Automatic Renewal Law (Business & Professions Code §17600 et seq.), including the right to cancel a recurring purchase exclusively online if you enrolled online. Similar rights apply in other states with automatic-renewal statutes (including Oregon, Illinois, New York, and others). The cancellation mechanism described in Section 13.3 satisfies those requirements.
13.6 Federal ROSCA notice.
This Auto-Refill section is provided in compliance with the federal Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act, 15 U.S.C. §8401 et seq. You are not required to enroll in Auto-Refill to use the CAD Modeler.
14. Refunds
EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ALL CREDIT PURCHASES ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE. Because the CAD Modeler incurs material upstream LLM-provider costs in real time, we do not refund:
- Unused Credits remaining in your account.
- Credits consumed by generations you were dissatisfied with.
- Credits consumed by failed generations where we incurred upstream cost (see Section 12.3).
- Credit purchases following voluntary or involuntary account termination.
We may, in our sole discretion and as a courtesy, credit your account in cases of demonstrable billing error, prolonged outage, or other extraordinary circumstance. Nothing in this Section 14 limits any non-waivable right you have under applicable consumer-protection law (including, where applicable, a statutory right of withdrawal under EU consumer law for purchases of digital content made by consumers in the EU/EEA before the digital content is delivered; once you use Credits, that right of withdrawal is exhausted).
15. Engineering & Safety Disclaimer
READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT DESCRIBES THE INTENDED USE OF THE CAD MODELER AND THE LIMITS OF OUR RESPONSIBILITY.
The CAD Modeler is an AI-assisted design tool. No hardware warranty. We are not responsible for any damage to 3D printers, CNC machines, tooling, materials, or other equipment caused by attempting to manufacture an Output. We are not responsible for injury or property damage caused by manufactured Outputs.
16. Warranties & Disclaimers
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE CAD MODELER, ALL OUTPUTS, AND ALL RELATED SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ANY WARRANTY ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING, COURSE OF PERFORMANCE, OR TRADE USAGE.
Without limiting the foregoing, we specifically disclaim any warranty that: (a) the CAD Modeler will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful components; (b) any Output will be accurate, complete, current, reliable, printable, manufacturable, original, or non-infringing; (c) any defect in the CAD Modeler will be corrected; or (d) any specific feature, model, third-party provider, or capability will be available now or in the future.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. To the extent such an exclusion is unenforceable in your jurisdiction, the warranty is limited to the minimum required by law.
17. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL ATLAS RODIN LLC OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, GOODWILL, DATA, USE, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE CAD MODELER, ANY OUTPUT, OR THESE CAD TERMS, REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY (CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE) AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE CAD MODELER OR THESE CAD TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR CREDITS CONSUMED BY THE CAD MODELER IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (b) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. To the extent such an exclusion or limitation is unenforceable in your jurisdiction, our liability is limited to the minimum required by law.
18. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Atlas Rodin LLC and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) Your Content (including any images you upload); (b) any Output you produce, distribute, manufacture, or use, including any 3D-printed or manufactured object derived from an Output; (c) your violation of these CAD Terms, the Site ToS, or any applicable law; (d) your infringement or alleged infringement of any third-party right; or (e) any other action you take in connection with the CAD Modeler.
19. Suspension & Termination
We may suspend, throttle, disable, or terminate your access to the CAD Modeler, with or without notice, for any reason permitted by these CAD Terms or the Site ToS, including for violation of Section 11 (Prohibited Use), nonpayment, fraud, abuse, security risk, legal requirement, or because we are discontinuing the CAD Modeler in whole or in part. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of unused Credits except where required by applicable law.
You may stop using the CAD Modeler at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including the license grants in Sections 5, 7, and 10, and Sections 14–23 — survive termination.
20. Disputes & Governing Law
These CAD Terms (and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or related to them) are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
The dispute-resolution provisions in the Site ToS — including the binding-arbitration agreement, class-action waiver, jury-trial waiver, one-year time limit on claims, and small-claims-court exception — apply to all disputes arising out of or related to the CAD Modeler or these CAD Terms. Arbitration, if required, will be administered by the American Arbitration Association in Chicago, Illinois (or by telephone/videoconference at the arbitrator's discretion), under the AAA's Consumer Arbitration Rules.
For any dispute not subject to arbitration, you and we consent to the exclusive personal jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.
21. General Provisions
21.1 Entire agreement. These CAD Terms, the Site ToS, the PrintPal Privacy Policy, the CAD Modeler Privacy Policy, and any policies referenced in any of the foregoing constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the CAD Modeler and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements regarding the same subject matter.
21.2 Severability. If any provision of these CAD Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect, and the invalid provision is modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
21.3 No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these CAD Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.
21.4 Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these CAD Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these CAD Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of substantially all our assets, or to any affiliate, without notice to you.
21.5 No third-party beneficiaries. These CAD Terms create no third-party beneficiary rights.
21.6 Notices. We may give you notice via email (to the address associated with your account), via in-product notice, or by posting on the CAD Modeler. You must give us notice in writing to the address in Section 23.
21.7 Force majeure. We are not liable for any delay or failure in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, pandemics, labor disputes, utility outages, network or hosting-provider failures, or actions of governments or third-party LLM providers.
21.8 Government end-users. If you are a U.S. government end-user, the CAD Modeler is a "Commercial Item" as defined in FAR 2.101, and your rights are governed exclusively by these CAD Terms.
22. Changes to These Terms
We may update these CAD Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. If we make a material change, we will give you notice through the CAD Modeler, by email, or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the CAD Modeler after a material change takes effect means you agree to the updated CAD Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the CAD Modeler.
